About the Event
Harmony between humanity and nature has long been a lasting ideal in Chinese culture. From ancient poems celebrating the first sprouting of plants in spring to today’s growing awareness of environmental care, people across centuries have continued to imagine a world in which humans and nature coexist in balance. Spring Light is Chinese contemporary sculptor Cai Zhisong’s renewed Eastern interpretation of this enduring vision. Bringing together three major series of work: “Homeland”, “Rose”, and “Reflection”, the exhibition traces a passage from the external world of nature to an inner spiritual homeland, from physical surroundings to a place of emotional and mental dwelling.
Early in 2016, Cai Zhisong began exploring the idea of “homeland” as the foundation of human existence, weaving together themes of beauty and harmony.
