Wang Xuan
Wang Xuan, born in 1979 in Guangxi, China, is an artist who creates detailed small to medium-sized works that blend surrealistic imagery with elements from European and Asian art history. His paintings feature a mix of objects that, at first glance, seem unrelated but are actually carefully arranged to form a cohesive and planned composition. He combines figures and faces inspired by historical art, draped fabrics, everyday items like bathtubs and vases, and even plants, animals, and fantastical creatures.
Wang Xuan's technical skill in painting is precise, but he deliberately disrupts the perfection with blurring, distortions, and small color dots that subtly unbalance the composition. These elements invite the viewer to see his paintings as miniature worlds, where space and depth are often suggested through painted architecture or spatial hints. His works draw the viewer into a diorama-like scene, where reality and imagination merge in a unique visual experience.
