Yin Zhaohui

Yin Zhaohui, Chinese contemporary artist born in 1977 into an artistic family in Anyang, Henan Province. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2004. In the early stages of his career, Yin focused on the theme of the human body, using fragments such as hands, fingers, and faces to probe the hidden dimensions of human psychology. Around 2014, his artistic focus shifted from the body to the natural landscape. His visual language moved from close observation to distant contemplation, drawing together the spirit of traditional Chinese literati painting and a contemporary sensibility. Through this transition, he sought to create subjective landscapes imbued with the atmospheric resonance characteristic of Song and Yuan painting.

Occupying a space between abstraction and representation, Yin’s landscapes often take wind, waves, clouds, trees, mountains, and rocks as their major subjects. Delicate yet timeless lines and a restrained, understated palette lend his works a sense of distance and stillness, evoking a quiet and contemplative realm.
